Rules

AIM OF THE SINGLES LADDER

To give Wanaka Tennis Club members the opportunity to play competitive singles games on a regular basis against other Club players.  The Singles Ladder will be updated regularly and new rankings applied.

Results of matches are to be recorded on a separate sheet at the Clubrooms.

THE LADDER

  1. Progression up the ladder is made by challenging and defeating a player above you on the ladder.
  2. If you win the challenge match then you move one place above the person you beat.
  3. If you lose you do not move on the ladder.
  4. You may challenge any player above you on the ladder.  However the challenge must be no more than 4 positions above you.
  5. You cannot challenge the same person twice in succession.
  6. The time for the match is organised between players.
  7. If you have made a best effort attempt to play your game and the other player doesn’t show up, then they default the match.  (see Defaulting below)
  8. There are no entry fees or prizes.

THE MATCH

  1. Players are to provide their own balls for matches.
  2. Matches are played to the best of 3 tie-break sets.
  3. The game scores are written on the sheet in the Clubrooms. You write your scores with your games first followed by your opponents games e.g. 6-4  5-7  6-3
  4. If bad weather prevents the match being played or continuing then the match can be rescheduled. The match will continue at the same score it was stopped.
  5. If the match is stopped by a player for any reason (e.g. injury, must leave) then that player concedes the match to the other player and is regarded as the loser.

DEFAULTING

  1. If a player does not show up for the match then they are they lose the match by default.
  2. Any disputes are decided by the ladder co-ordinator.  Contact Dave 443 9121.

GOOD LUCK!
