Rules
AIM OF THE SINGLES LADDER
To give Wanaka Tennis Club members the opportunity to play
competitive singles games on a regular basis against other Club players.
The Singles Ladder will be updated regularly and new rankings applied.
Results of matches are to be recorded on a separate sheet at
the Clubrooms.
THE LADDER
- Progression up the ladder is made by challenging and defeating a player
above you on the ladder.
- If you win the challenge match then you move one place above the person
you beat.
- If you lose you do not move on the ladder.
- You may challenge any player above you on
the ladder. However the challenge
must be no more than 4 positions above you.
- You cannot challenge the same person twice in succession.
- The time for the match is organised between players.
- If you have made a best effort attempt to play your game and the other
player doesn’t show up, then they default the match.
(see Defaulting below)
- There are no entry fees or prizes.
THE MATCH
- Players are to provide their own balls for matches.
- Matches are played to the best of 3 tie-break sets.
- The game scores are written on the sheet in the Clubrooms. You write your scores with your games first followed by your opponents
games e.g. 6-4 5-7 6-3
- If bad weather prevents the match being played or continuing then the
match can be rescheduled. The match will continue at the same score it was
stopped.
- If the match is stopped by a player for any reason (e.g. injury, must
leave) then that player concedes the match to the other player and is
regarded as the loser.
DEFAULTING
- If a player does not show up for the match then they are they lose the
match by default.
- Any disputes are decided by the ladder co-ordinator. Contact Dave 443
9121.
GOOD LUCK!
